We all have those places that we call our own(that really aren't). Little corners or pockets of land where we feel calm and even carry a sense of entitlement too. Whether it's just your room, a isolated place at work/school, a certain seat, a place outside or even a place in your head. What is your sanctuary and what does it do for you?
My sanctuary resides between my headphones, particularly when I'm using Figure (music app from Propellerhead). I create my own acoustic worlds...have made close to 500 of them. It helps me focus away from the world when I want to just "pull in" from a scattered mind. Of course, you may deduce that, in being schizoid, I do this quite often.
A mile away from my house there's a trail/walkway surrounded by sparse forest. They've built a little play ground there now so it isn't as isolated as it used to be but you can still go underneath to get to the little creek that runs through and sit and read/ draw for hours.
Unfortunately the high schoolers have also found this place and go smoke weed there so now it's going up to the parks and sitting near the lake and hoping the sheep and goats don't get too close.
For me it's mainly this old, closed down trail located next to a wildlife park. I have to spend close to 10 minutes walking through an overgrown pathway before seeing a small opening in between the trees.
I would've missed it my first time passing it if I didnt see this sign
Walking through the forest for a couple minutes I found this small creek. The ground by the water is consistent with these very thin rocks. The sound that comes from when I step on them is amazing.
Full View of the area, I usually just lay my backpack down like so, lay down and relax in silence.
I usually read, mostly Taoism there. Makes sense too, since it practically idolizes nature(specifically water)
my parents house and everything in its immediate vicinity. i feel like a princess there, and am treated as such. also my elementary school which has a nice little hilltop that my friends and i go to smoke sometimes and look at the view. anywhere i've ever worked. can't think of anything else but i'm generally pretty entitled so this will likely be updated soon :D
