Also, if you've got forever then you'd end up putting things off forever because there would be no sense of urgency.

I really doubt this. How do you fuck up living forever? (apart from ending up in very bad health)
Just think how frightened people are of the future anyway though, like so many people who are afraid of making a career decision or committing to a relationship or having kids because they are scared by how permanent it is. If forever was really forever, nobody would take any risks because they worry of getting a criminal record or just closing doors behind them in life that can't be reopened
