I agree that struggle can change your perspective and make you appreciate life more, but struggle is not the same as pain and suffering. I don't believe life without pain is a hollow or 'numb' life.
Appreciation comes from struggle, pain is the root of motivation, and one's suffering is a strong part of art, life, identity, pretty much everything. Without this we'd succumb to inertia and live numbly.
When you understand another's pain, you gain the potential to understand so much more about them. It's honest, it's raw, it tells so much more than anything else. It's the key to who they are and where their potential lies.
so for the whole time i was in the hospital i had this song stuck in my head, and they wouldn't let me have a phone or internet and i had to sit there and have this song stuck in my head but not be able to listen to it, and it was so annoying, but now i can listen to it finally and i'm happy
