I agree with your opinion on single deity pantheons for the most part, because I have seen them do a lot of harm. But it's not like pagan faiths that came before it didn't also rely upon fear, intimidation, and demonizing others' beliefs in many cases.
I like paganism better than monotheism, but I think that a new, evolved, different sort of spirituality would be most beneficial for society at this point. But I don't know what that would be.

It means watching others cringe at a simple sentence. It's wonderfully blasphemous in societies that have it ingrained into the culture, and it celebrates that I can say it where I live without being killed over it.
As for the rest of it, multiple deities within a pantheon offer a means of debate, of speculation, of taking sides within the same framework, while a single deity pantheon demands obedience and allows for ignorance far more openly. Multiple deities is comparatively more open minded as a concept when compared to following one, powerful being, and it takes more effort to build leadership out of it since it's design, while still pushing for that, tends to make for community instead of single-minded almost cult-like leadership thralls.
Monotheism is streamlined for efficiency at the cost of many other aspects.
