So I see the little jihadist Boston bomber got the death penalty yesterday. What say you about that? If it was you would you rather get the DP or life in prison? I think I'd rather die than do life in prison.
LWOP- Life without parole.
He was an adolescent when he cimmured the crime and was impressionable by his older brother. Has his brother not killed himself to leave the blame for his younger brother to take I bet his older brother would have the death penalty and he would be serving life. Someone however has to take the blame and be given capital punishment. I am sure Massachusetts is quite upset with the fact that the federal government came in and placed the death penalty in a non capital punishment state. Indeed the bomber deserves to die but I have never liked that the government had that much power and that mere citizens can choose whether you live or not. He has automatic appeals and I wonder whether he'll be saved then
I say who cares. He did the crime and that was his punishment, oh well. Moral of the story is don't bomb people and complain when you actually get punished. For me i chose life in prison. He made the choice, knew right from wrong, and then act surprised about his death? What a shocker.
A bullet to the head costs the price of a gunman and the cost of the weapon itself. If they didn't complicate the matters it'd remain cheap. Life imprisonment or not, they'd still have the costs of dealing with the body all the same, and burning the bodies would save much when it comes to disposal as well.
The system is what makes the death sentence into something so complicated, as realistically it shouldn't cost more to kill someone than to host them in a cell for potential decades of their lives. Killing them also stops overcrowding issues and lowers the risk of them spreading their caustic ways of thinking to other people.
Death is still more efficient, they simply handle it inefficiently.
Inmates on death row are more expense the people that have life without parole. You are not killed immediately on average it takes 30years to actually bring them to the death chamber and appeals are beyond expensive and most have more than 2 appeal cases so it really ends up being a while. The majority of prisoners on death row end up dying way before they are executed due to natural causes. That's why I think its almost unnecessary to execute them.
