So, I don't actually read past the executive summary on most of these, however, this one basically says, they don't have a satisfactory answer as to why mental illness strikes urban city cores the most.

There is robust and consistent evidence from epidemiological studies showing that urban birth is associated with an increased risk of developing schizophrenia. Evidence suggests that this exposure may be associated with a sizeable proportion of cases. To date the candidate exposures underlying the urban birth risk factor have included infectious agents, low prenatal vitamin D, toxins associated with pollution, and stress. However, in general, the hypotheses proposed to explain the urban birth risk factor have been unsatisfying. In light of the general trend towards increasing urbanization, it is feasible that the attributable fraction of schizophrenia associated with urban birth may increase. The psychiatric research community should have a sense of urgency in exploring the mechanisms linking urban birth and risk of schizophrenia.

Could it be drugs? I don't think so. They've excluded stress, which I find hard to believe, so could it be an underground socialist movement?

I'll tell you what it probably is. If you take a deer and you put it in headlights, it gets stunned. Or it goes into a psychosis of sorts, and it cannot dodge the car.

 

In the city, you have sensory information overload, thus, you are constantly stunning people with adverts, and information, and noises, and they become skitzophrenic. 

 

It is not a condition of stress. I am sure that the deer before they are struck by the car is quite a jovial fellow, for lacks of better terms.

 

So, we could organize cities so that they are healthy places to live, however, that is not in the interest of everyone, because??? Why exactly?
