You have to understand that in capitalist society people are under the influence of the predominant ideology-Which is consumerism. It's not the only thing maintaining the structure of capitalism, but it's a main.
You have to understand that the political discontent becomes construed and obscure in light of this consumerist dominance... The inevitable psychological result of this conflict between false-conscious and unconscious is a riot of the type in Baltimore.
This is something never mentioned, because this is the ultimate truth that nobody can accept due to it being inherent in the system of capitalism... Everybody who supports this system is a conservative Stockholm syndrome victim.
The consumerism is the false-conscious, whereas the political discontent is unconscious. As in traditional psychoanalytic terms, the conflict is between the false-conscious and unconscious-The unconscious in this case is positive, and the false-conscious negative- The battle is between who occupies real consciousness, who shapes social being and is acted upon by social being. This is the psychology of the Baltimore rioting... People stealing is due not only to their impoverished conditions as black men and women who are disparaged, but also the general false-consciousness of capitalist society. The internal struggle in individuals each create a feeling of assuredness and certainty, in all of the constituents leading to the frustration becoming manifest... This is the class struggle.
