The Sandman is a highly stylised puppet-animation, a beautifully crafted, but ultimately horrible interpretation of an old European folktale. A bare synopsis doesn't begin to do justice to the sophistication - and brutality - of this film.
I enjoy that his falling to the ground made no sound. It caught me off guard at first, thinking the artist made a mistake, until "Oh right, it's a doll" occurred to me.
The eye stretch at the beginning warping the texture's the only real flaw I noticed.
