I guess the two aren't different for me, or I have trouble telling the difference then or the two work closely together or something. The same natural response that tells me heights are bad think stupid things like sidewalk cracks and volume not being divisible by five is bad, and all three end up explained in hindsight as if they're equally valid.

Only difference from my understanding is the sort of language employed. Gut responses are raw and of that moment while everything else is foresight/hindsight appraisal, but the both of them work off each other.

Yes. It's like a leap of logic that I can almost smell. But the sense isn't quite like smell. It's what happens when the mind jumps beyond facts and figures and feels something on the periphery that doesn't quite make sense, but has to be acknowledged. Like the hackles we all get at the backs of our necks when somebody is staring at us.

Then I pounce on it (usually metaphorically) before it pounces on me.

exactly(validity). i had a friend i believe to have been schizophrenic, and she told me what the voice said once. it was just so inconsequential, in response to a regular statement like 'maybe we should go here later' the voice said something like 'don't trust her, i wouldn't trust her'.

Neither can be trusted for similar reasons and they both come from my head, so I guess I see gut intuition like that same strain of stupid on a more reflex level, something to ignore or work past just as much as voices. Both for me root from the same strain of stupid with the real differences being in duration, speed, creativity, and volume, and just because it wants to sound like it's not coming from me doesn't mean it isn't so... I dunno.

In general I sorted it out more like stable vs unstable thoughts, regardless of if it's instinctual or not. The reflexes and crazy work together, and seeing them as separate is kind of weird to me. They come from the same source and reflect the same things.

i'm not aware of having experienced both but as a side effect of drugs i once had a voice shout into my ear. it was kinda freaky, didn't sound human and went from low volume to a shout. i could tell it wasn't any sort of internal thought but i don't have schizophrenia. i am kinda paranoid though and so i can relate to it being difficult to objectively analyze your own thoughts.

What makes "the voice" different from thinking though, a belief that it's external?

Gut feelings aren't voices in the head to me. Voices in the head say something with words, right? Intuition is smth different.
