Now I'm gonna have to add this to the list I've been hoarding.
Last night I watched Badlands based on a true story that took place in the 50s in Nebraska about a 19 year old killing his sheltered 14 year old girlfriend's dad for trying to keep them from seeing each other. They go on the run together and end up racking up a body count of bounty hunters and witnesses. Unfortunately, not much of the actual mindfucking is seen on screen, but the narration from the perspective of the girl does a beautiful job of showing how brainwashed she was.
There's also a two part TV movie (Murder in the Heartland) posted on YouTube based on the same event, but I might watch that one too. It's longer with a slower pace, so I'm pretty sure it'll portray the relationship between the characters in an even more insidious way.
