Why Reddit sucks and 4chan is awesome...

"You actually need to make a coherent and intelligent argument on 4chan to get your point across."

I'm not so certain about that part personally.

As for the rest of it the two accomplish very different goals and both have their own share of problems. A lack of identity behind your post can work with and against you depending on the aim, and 4chan empties itself fairly regularly which often makes for a lack of paper trail.

Reddit has some obvious flaws that are exploitable though, as seen with sites like "Buy Reddit Votes".

Generalizing 4chan is a mistake the overall population is retarded. Sure non conformist opinions are propagated by boards such as /pol/ but the level of discussion and circle jerk is hardly better than that of reddit.

However In every case and in all boards the underlying internet culture in my opinion is better than Reddit and don't get me started on le upvote.

On the point of better discussions and good boards, boards such as /lit/ and /sci/ are just fine. I would say it's not about the format but about the people, and some of their tightly knit groups happen to have a level of discussion.

4chan is a pretty good site. For starters, you don't need a username to post on site. Due to the lack of usernames and identity on 4chan, all comments on 4chan are judged based on the quality of the comment itself, and not any preconceived notions of the author (since everyone is anonymous on 4chan you can't judge a comment based on any preconceived notion of the author). This means stupid comments don't receive praise just because you like the author. And good comments don't receive scorn just because you dislike the author of the comment. You can't be biased towards the author of a comment if you don't have any idea who the author of the comment is.

4chan is a lot better than Reddit because 4chan isn't a circlejerk of conformist opinions, unlike Reddit. Karma systems are for retards anyways because the only thing a karma system does is induce conformity and group-think. And only retards group-think and circle-jerk. Reddit is just a circle-jerk of conformist opinions, and as such, Reddit is for retards because only retards circle-jerk. I'm sorry, but if you can't see why Reddit is flawed, you are somewhat mentally deficient.

Dumbfucks downvote your comment on Reddit if you have any opinion that disagrees with their opinion. Instead of arguing with you, people just downvote your comment if they disagree with you. Even though there is a prevailing opinion on 4chan, 4chan isn't a hivemind site (unlike Reddit) because people can't just downvote any comments they disagree with. You actually need to make a coherent and intelligent argument on 4chan to get your point across.

The only comments that receive positive karma are those that people agree with. People tend to only upvote comments they agree with. You circle-jerk whenever you upvote something you agree with and downvote anything you disagree with.

4chan is also one of the few sites on the Internet where you can't get banned for being politically incorrect. On most sites, you can get banned for being politically incorrect. On 4chan, however, the only way you can get banned is if you do something blatantly illegal. The freedom of speech you get on 4chan is a lot better than most sites on the Internet, which in my opinion, makes 4chan a good site.

tl;dr -----> Reddit is for circle-jerking faggots. Reddit fucking sucks. 4chan is for free-thinkers. 4chan is awesome.

Alright, don't get me wrong, I don't like reddit or anything, but all this about 4chan being some godlike website is utter bullshit. I'm gonna try and keep this short. Let's face it, 4chan isn't for "free thinkers", and it isn't awesome. It's for neckbeards and social outcasts to express their deep, fucked up opinions and desires while hiding from ridicule with the use of anonimity. The way it's become, it's a disaster of a website.

After saying all that though, I have no problem admitting I love 4chan. I spend hours on there daily. I've fallen in love with the community, and enjoy the repetitive threads. However, that doesn't give me any reason to start spouting shit about how 4chan's a good place to be, because I know it isn't.

Actually, scratch that, this whole thread was probably just bait anyways.

I tried out Four Channel and was disgusted at the intellectual caliber of the discussion. When there even IS discussion. Half of that cesspool of a vomitorium is nothing more than a bunch of role players engaged in games where their posts' digit identifiers determines what they are going to masturbate to according to some strange picture, as they all sync themselves to stroking in unison.

I will just stick to this web site where there are real discussions, where talk is constructive. For instance, I have been wondering how to defeat a sociopath for a long time until I came here, and now I feel like a veritable Swiss army knife ready to pick apart any socio that crosses my path. I mean just look at the first few pages of this forum, this place is practically a university.
