My mother is very spiritual and believes in cosmic energy and karma and I don't even know what. My dad is somewhat agnostic, with tinges of spirituality. My mom has put some effort into trying to teach me about spiritual practices, but I could never really get into it. I've been an atheist for basically all my life.
All of us. Commerical advertising has fundamentally changed every single one of us, at a much faster pace than any other time in history, and it's reach goes beyond the television and radio onto the internet.
What was the saying in the Cable Guy? Lary had to kill the babysitter or something to that effect?
Probably most all were born into a religious families..Very few true atheist I would think. My mothers side was straight up Christian, My fathers side not so much. They believed in working hard, and playing hard and thought pray was for the weak and that the weak would seek out the "pack" to find comfort in numbers..By the time I was 13 I was experienced to and saw shyt that no one should at 13. Here in the mountains folks are different than the city folk..Religion has never played a part in my life as I am not religious. No organized religion as a monopoly on this "God" and any follower of any religious organization is buying into someone else's concept of "God" and what He is to them.. "God" is not confined to walls of wood or stone but is individual to each as we see Him differently. Each must find his/her understanding of Him, and become at peace with that..I need no one to tell me what "God" means to me..Peace

Thinking like this is why I don't think a belief in God will ever leave the world completely. The definition for who/what God is is too flexible. There will always be those who say "I believe in God, BUT..."

Depends on what part of the world you grew up in. Europeans are much less religious than Americans, for example.
This is true. I grew up in a home with none religion tendencies whatsoever. The only thing they wanted from us (siblings and me) was that we should be respectful to those who are religious.
