You sound like me. Are you the female version of me?
Think of somebody you hate getting a brick thrown into their face. What would your response be? Personally I would laugh, that's funny. Now think of somebody who is an acquaintance, having a brick thrown into their face. It yields the same result to me, I find it humorous.
Now. Replay the scenario with a fictional character, a best friend, and a relative. What results do you get now? No matter which person the brick is thrown at, I find the thought amusing.
Now, imagine yourself, standing there as a brick flies to your face, as it makes contact it breaks teeth, knocking you down. How do you feel about that? What is your response to something like that? I find the thought funny, I don't put a difference between myself and others, for me a brick to the face is funny.
If such a thing actually happened to me, I would not be amused, but if it happened in front of me to any of the above individuals, I would find it amusing.
Point being- in theory, pain and suffering is funny no matter who receives it. But in practice, I laugh no matter what... until it happens to me.
