Big difference. One is a medical degree while the other is science. Picking one over the other is the difference between chat and pills typically.

On average, a psychiatrist who charges for 45-50 minutes of psychotherapy earns $74-$107 less than he or she would for three 15-minute sessions of medication management."
Pretty much... insurance companies seem to prefer pills over talking since "talking takes too long". Donald Levin's case is a good example: "“I had to train myself not to get too interested in their problems, and not to get sidetracked trying to be a semi-therapist.†DR. DONALD LEVIN, a psychiatrist whose practice no longer includes talk therapy."
"Now, like many of his peers, he treats 1,200 people in mostly 15-minute visits for prescription adjustments that are sometimes months apart. Then, he knew his patients’ inner lives better than he knew his wife’s; now, he often cannot remember their names."
It's no mystery between Psychology and Psychiatry which I prefer.
