^Haha
Hide you face in your hands and mask the fact that you're pressing your fingers into your eyes to induce tears/wetness. As long as the area surrounding your eyes looks slightly swollen and red, it looks miserable enough.
Hey, new to this forum and was just recent diagnosed by a psychologist that i have 1) Narcissistic Personality Disorder, 2) a VERY high degree of sociopathy and 3) hints of Borderline Personality Disorder. Grandma just passed away recently and i literally couldn't force myself to cry unlike when my grandma on my mother side passed a few years back (forgotten how i did it). So any tips on how to get the waterworks to kick in on cue cause i ended up looking like a cold hard bitch at the funeral and i gotta get this down for future use. Thanks!
So what?
People don't always cry. It is not required by law that you cry at everything that happens.
Just remember when you are a grandmother, that that NPD, psychopath in your family isn't going to shed a tear for you.
BTW. There is no law which says, NPD or Psychopaths are incapable of crying.
This is a problem for you and your family to figure out. Hope that helps.
if you're legit about this, try to have a vivid image in your head of an actor/actress from a movie crying and try and copy him/her as best you can. nothing dawson's creek esque mind you, something a bit more convincing. yawning (subtly/without opening your mouth )a little and flaring of the nostrils also helps.
also, understand that normal people don't always cry at funerals either . i didn't cry at my great grandma's funeral or any other funeral i've been to ( except the first one i went to when i was a kid i'm pretty sure ) , and i wouldn't say that automatically makes me a sociopath.
Sadness tends to be more convincing without tears if you ask me, even cracking a joke or two is the comedian's opiate against depression. If someone else doesn't understand your way of "expressing", take the time to explain it followed by a memory or two that show the sadness source is on your mind.
What's worth faking is showing that you care, tears shouldn't be a requirement. All people really need to see is that you're doing something related to grief.
