Also, i too find the topic interesting... I enjoy life, but understand the possibility of me being depressed is very real. I think that's why I find it interesting... The depression part, I'm not terrible intelligent. If you find the topic of interest and are not depressed, is because you're highly intelligent? Or believe yourself to be?
I wouldn't say I'm that intelligent, however I'd say I'm not as stupid as the majority. The fact that statistics, if viewedin this case, would suggest that intelligent people aren't as depressed strokes my interest.
I find myself to have trouble to take interest in too shallow topics when talking to others, and it's hard to find common ground with people lacking interest in learning overall.
Depression is what happens when the brain slows down, which is the exact opposite of top scoring intelligence.
Wisdom is probably what you want to use as a replacement for the word intelligence.
I'll take smart over intelligence and wisdom any day.

It's problematic to put oneself into the category of "people soo highly intelligent that they can't get along with the plebs".
It creates a trench betweeen you and the rest of the world. Since you are one of the few who "sees the truth" you don't have to listen to anyone anymore. It also implies that the underlying problem of your social problems is set in stone and any attempt to change it is futile.
For any communication to work people have to find common ground. Thinking you are too intelligent to talk to normal people simply means you expect anyone to communicate on the level you prefer. That's like a Jehovah's Witness who can't shut up about Jesus.
I was stuck with some kind of existencial depression for a longer time and would have agreed on your post back then. Now I think the real problem was that I was fast to dismiss anything that didn't fit my views.

You have just enough insight to be aware of your disability. All of your life, you carry the constant stigma of not being good enough. People talk down to you and treat you like a sub human, for they assume that you cannot understand. Whenever you hear about someone who is brilliant and clever and successful, you are reminded anew that you will never achieve that brilliance. You are just scum on the bottom of Evolution's shoe, soon to be eliminated from the gene pool. For the rest of your existence, you will ache with the knowledge that the dreams of greatness that you hold painfully close to your heart will never be realized. Your fate is to die stupid.
You are insignificant.
Put down the calculus textbook for a minute and think about that.
