What Are Your Manners?

I believe emotions are a necessity in a relationship that is not fake. It depends on the definition; we all have one or a few of those. I don't think manners apply in a relationship that has its foundation on trust.

I once told a girl "You're welcome" when she opened the apartment entrance door for me.

Do you mean in your personal language, or in your actual native language? If the latter, is there a rough equivalent word? What does it translate as?

In my language, the word please does not exist.

That's interesting. I wonder if Swedish conversation is generally less "fake?"

My native language which is Swedish. We do not have any word it translates into. It even shows in strange places. If you look at a Swedish ATM, it has Swedish and English, saying:

Insert your card, please

and

Sätt i kort! (Which translates into Insert card!)

So you see, we totally lack that politeness.

When we ask, we simply ask.

To be polite or signal a transaction is finished, we say Tack! (Thank you.)

So we have a polite word at the end of the conversation, but not at the start.
