It's the wests foreign policy that is to blame for terrorism, but Muslims (the people we target) can't stage a direct, full fledged attack on any member of the occident... So they attack cartoonists who depict their prophet badly, because it's easier than directly attacking the pentagon.
They just want revenge, they want to defend themselves in an Islamic view. Because the Quran is undoubtedly violent, but the passages specially referring to war only refer to defensive warfare.
For example: France is occupying Mali, it's using instability as an excuse for intervention and now it's confiscated all land belonging to the people into the hands of foreign private corporations... And the French are already hegemonic to the Malian government, it's the same with us in Afghanistan... It's a system under imperialistic bayonets.
Mali is also a majority Muslim country, since we have only made the situation worse by intervening and have killed many innocent civilians, it's taken by The population of these countries, inclusively Muslim majority under western imperialism, to defend themselves.
And a lot of them are totally impoverished, so they've become closer to religion to find consolidation in times of peril. If that religion is like Islam, which teaches Muslims to defend themselves and their brothers from others wishing to do harm, then you are going to have a retaliation. But just because it's religious, doesn't mean we should focus in religion... We should focus on what's causing the population to cling to this ideology. And that cause is western imperialism- Capitalism.

Going around screaming down innocent Muslims isn't going to work. Our media marginalises them, vilifies them and inculcates the population into believing they are intruders... Eventually, a Muslim will feel so alienated and isolated that he will revere his religion even more so than before.
For example, Palestinians are largely secular, the only reason a somewhat "right wing" government was elected (Hamas) is because of Israel's terrorism. These people have no water, no food, their land has been taken from them... They only have the consolidation that religion provides, and that's manifested itself in extreme Islam... Not as extreme as ISIS, Hamas isn't that bad, but it should be held responsible, as should Israel, for war crimes.
The bourgeois imperialists are exploiting the recent events in Paris to justify their subjugation of foreign nations.

It's our fault, we openly support the deaths of nearly 3000 Palestinians, we murdered hundreds of thousands in Iraq and Afghanistan, committed major war crimes and yet this is ignored.
But Now that these people, so impoverished that only religion can provide consolidation, has taken on its principles of warfare- Defensive warfare.

It isn't about religion or race, it's about our indivisible and ubiquitous rights as proletariat of all nations to unite and defeat that which uses irrationality and ideology to keep us divided- Capitalism.
The neoliberal, imperialistic and bourgeois rapacious opportunists will be destroyed, everything they ever brought up from the soil will be trampled upon in triumph.
