Not as much of a waste of time as drifting through life exhausted. Sleep helps ensure that the time spent has more quality to it, while not sleeping makes everything become increasingly boring and unbalanced overtime as mental faculties begin to destabalize one by one. Down the line it even makes you become more stupid in a slap happy fashion.
Would you rather spend 2/3 your life experiencing things properly, or have 100% of it be conscious but be hard to perceive and enjoy? This is a case where quality > quantity.

I can imagine so many drawbacks coming from the initial presentation of such a thing...
I dont do it during on school days. I do it on weekends, Christmas break, etc.
I get up, take care of house/kids/ pet business, and crawl back in my bed. I have had a weird few years with my bipolar. I am much less social, and stay at home a lot more. I don't socialize hardly at all and I am sort of miserable. No dates, no sex, no life. It is grand.
