As you might know I tried to get tickets for the (2013-2014) new years concert by the wiener philharmonike sadly I failed to obtain tickets that time out of the naivety that I would only needed to be in the draw for them. This year with that naivety cast aside I used a travel agency to obtain tickets and a nice place to stay.
As you might know I broke up with my girlfriend over some stupid shit (I have a tendency to not be able to uphold long term relationships) anyway I could not go alone so I had reason enough to get together with her, and she is the type of person who would like this kind of an event. I always loved Strauss and the music was both lighthearted and playful, the fact that the harpist was very easy on the eyes was also a clear bonus for me while a complaint of my date.
The after party was also enjoyable (even if it is not the type of social gathering I am used to, on new years). I was quite exhausted afterwards and it was time for a classical Viennese ball (whatever that entails exactly I have no clue) but it did include knowing how to dance the Viennese waltz which I don't know. Of course my girlfriend knew how to dance it and I spent most of my night exiled to the tables and lounges. This however was not that bad, I meet a bunch of interesting people from all over the place (surprising number of Japanese people there). I was happily surprised the ball did't end until 5am which I now know is standard.
I have committed myself to learning how to dance the Viennese waltz for I'm also going to get tickets for the Vienna Philharmonic Ball on the 22nd of January.
