Social Security is what we call Canada Pension Plan. People are only entitled to it past a certain age.
Worker's Comp is a payout for an injury at work.
EI is a temporary benefit paid to people who have been working full time for X number of years who are suddenly laid off or w/e.
Gvt. disability checks are what our provincial gvts. pay to crazy people. They are usually significantly less than any of the above benefits (except maybe the temporary EI benefit which depends on how much the person made before they were laid off.) The maximum monthly gvt. Disability Allowance was $1086/ month for a single person last time I checked.
EVERYBODY does not know the intricacies of the American Social Security system. Only Americans bother cluttering their headspace with that stuff :P
The original point of debate was about Reaper and myself getting more on gvt. disability than a person would make working. She does.
I would not. I make between $1400 and $1800/ month working, depending on my hours. I would have to starve for the better part of a year on welfare for $900/ month while I jump through hoops to prove I'm disabled enough to get my $1300 in disability money.

True welfare or disability should help those who need it. I could get on a program to get free treatment for chronic disease that i have. I don't. My parents pay for it.
There are people with true disabilities that need help and support.
