Paradoxical Personality

Sounds Like I have a paradoxical personality myself...

But doesn't anybody have one? Our behaviour can

change dipending on situations, right? Like, I can act

confident once and next time in a similar moment I

just can act shy because of many different outward

influences....

All it means is that certain aspects of your personality contradict each other. It's too broad of an adjective to explain in depth, but an example might be the fact that you're a quiet person but you can also be very loud (theoretically, of course. I have no idea what you're actually like).

Or, to make it more relevant to the forum, you could be an empathetic person, but seem very apathetic to certain topics/individuals.

So I've been told that my personality is "paradoxical". Does anyone here know what that is supposed to mean?!

I sort of switch between feeling no emotions and being over-empathetic, so I see how that could be thought of as "paradoxical".

The label seems like a misnomer though, since the only way for paradoxes to work in reality is for their individual parts to be accepted simultaneously. With empathy, it's more of an oscillation.

Is it possible to have multiple personalities that you clearly practice and define beforehand, but consciously switch between from the underlying perspective of a larger, third one?

Dunno about this, honestly. I have a schizophrenic friend who named a couple of her personalities, but she can't "practise" them in a conscious way; what is more, I don't think schizophrenia is one of you deseases, right?

I think constant shifting like that is a result of constant self-questioning, so yours sounds more like uncertainty. I guess that could produce paradoxical appearances, though.
