but I love it as more of a psychological game of instigation through even small things like body language instead of just the game of tactics it's meant to be.
That's interesting, never thought of it that way around. I'm completely oblivious to body language / facial expressions (never took an interest in that - i pay attention to a person's constant features though); for me it's the game itself.

I'm said to be a "challenging and unorthodox" player, i think that's because i never 'learnt' the classics but play it by ear.
