Weakness in the family

by Azula

What better goals in life are there?

Pleasure. Let me know how many people are interested in hanging around for pleasure, when you are well known for being something entirely else. It won't happen. Once you label yourself, in whatever few categories that are considered human styles, that's it, you're there.

Here's money and power. No pleasure.

10 Millionaire Businessmen Who Committed Suicide

http://www.businesspundit.com/10-millionaire-businessmen-who-committed-suicide/

We live in a society filled with dreams and aspirations of wealth, a society that likes to believe that money will bring with it happiness and success. The will to succeed is overpowering for some, and the pressure can be all-consuming. Mental pressure can take many forms; stress can enter our lives at any time, regardless of timing or situation. The following men were all successful businessmen who committed suicide. The millions in their bank accounts did nothing to ease their suffering…

Fuck wasn't there a recent up and coming millionaire? Whoops. Activist. Harvard Ethics Major? That's fucked up, eh?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaron_Swartz

Aaron Hillel Swartz (November 8, 1986 – January 11, 2013) was an American computer programmer, entrepreneur, writer, political organizer and Internet hacktivist who committed suicide in the context of a prosecution that was widely believed to be overly zealous and inappropriate. Swartz was involved in the development of the web feed format RSS[3] and the Markdown publishing format,[4] the organization Creative Commons,[5] the website framework web.py[6] and the social news site, Reddit, in which he became a partner after its merger with his company, Infogami.[i]

People fight over dollar bills. What makes you think there is any pleasure in power? Sounds like one great big drawn out war. You know. Oh Shit. I won the lottery, now I'm fucked, I have to buy security, and I have to watch my back, million weirdos out there, and so on.

I hardly see this as a correlation between power and unhappiness. Sure there are rich unhappy people and powerful unhappy people, there are unhappy people and weak people in all walks of life. I just think it is less prevalent in rich and powerful positions.

I see. You're one of those indigo children (euphemism for 'mildly retarded') who try to cover up their utter lack of intelligence and education with that 'holistic' BS mumbo-jumbo.

Maybe re-read some of the shit you wrote and go back to grade 2.  Good luck.

Well, weak isn't a property or an attribute, it's more of a measurement, so we could slip and slide around what weak is, and what is not.

The lamest example, is a Jesus Christ, who was crucified, and showed a tremendous amount of strength, all the while acting as others might perceive the guy as weak. It's a fairy tale or glamorized, however, strength is fighting back, right?

Just don't die, and pick your fights very very carefully. Or not at all, ever if possible.

Did you ever Carlitos Way? That's a great movie.

Anyways, looking back on history. I personally think that Kings, Queens, Sages, Priests, and Royalty and those in power practiced these principles, rather than handed them down to the slaves, or whatever. In fact, to have a thriving slave race, the last thing you would want, is temperance.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temperance_%28virtue%29

Temperance is the espousal of moderation, marked by personal restraint. It has been studied by religious thinkers, philosophers, and more recently, psychologists, particularly in the positive psychology movement. Upheld as a virtue throughout time and across cultures, it was one of the cardinal virtues in Greek philosophy, being believed that no virtue could be sustained in the face of inability to control oneself, if the virtue was opposed to some desire, and was subsequently incorporated in the Catholic catechism's Seven heavenly virtues. It is also one of the six main categories of the VIA character strengths. Temperance is generally defined by control over excess, so that it has many such classes, such as abstinence, chastity, modesty, humility, prudence, self-regulation, forgiveness and mercy; each of these involves restraining some impulse, such as sexual desire, vanity, or anger.

A good example of the failing miserably however, that comes to mind is the Aztecs, and Montezumo. The Spanish just raped that guy and they came back and kicked his ass again. So that's the way it goes when you mis-calculate your opposition. Probably has less to do with temperance.

I can't bring myself to love to care for weak people, sure I can appreciate them for what they are but nothing more.

I have a brother who is two years older then me yet we are in the same grade (12th). He encompasses the weakness i detest so much, he feels no shame (or at least does not show it) in being in the same grade as me nor has he tried to correct for it during the time we spent in the same grade level.

He gets worse grades then me and preforms worse then me in physical activities. My dad and me both have a hard view of failure and give him crap for not preforming or achieving. I do not love him, he brings shame to me and my family and is a typical example for failure.

Your brother is strong... It is you who is weak. You're weak in the mind and weak in physicality.

I can tell you what the opposite of power is- helplessness. That is why when someone is abused they often become controlling themselves.

It means they have different associations with power, just because you lack it does not mean you desire it.

If you have experience with power you have a more concrete association with it since you draw it from memory rather then it being a abstract distant concept.

"Your brother is strong... It is you who is weak. You're weak in the mind and weak in physicality."

Azula was a prodigy firebender, capable of bending blue fire and lightning, but she down the line went crazy when she faced her first true failure. Zuko meanwhile was an emotional mess, but that sort of outlet paired with a life of failures and letdowns let him grow instead of bottle up and explode. His fighting capability was weaker because his fighting style demanded a certain degree of cruelty and pride, something Azula had in spades even when she began to lose her focus and composure. He also had the advantage of being raised from a figure of Wisdom, while she mostly raised herself with the assistance of subjects she could command, remaining a child who resents her mother (eventually tortured by visions of her) while kissing her father's ass for power.

Arguably they're both weak with strengths in specific niches. She's more of a sharpened focus all eggs in one basket basket case while he's more well rounded without fully excelling in his talents.
