I know right? He's the kind of guy I want in my class, he sounds like he really adds a spice to life.
I understand that when psychopath's get bored, they get aggressive. But the article states he'd developed an irrational hatred, which most likely means he talked about hating her for a while. And he did have a knife, so it doesn't sound like just a spur of the moment "I'm feeling bored, let's kill the first person I see" thing. It seems, to some extent, planned.
However, like I've said, I didn't think a psychopath would let an emotion cloud their vision to the point of attacking someone in a place where they know they will be caught. Especially if it were a planned assault. It just doesn't add up in my (albeit limited) knowledge of psychopaths. Is there a fact I'm missing or something? It just doesn't seem very psychopathic to me.
I only heard about this for the first time today. This news article tells the story of a boy who winked at a friend before stabbing his teacher, then sat down as if nothing had happened and said "good times".
The article goes on to say about how emotionless he was, and says that his personality has "psychopathic elements".
So, my question is, why'd he do it? I understand that morals and emotions didn't stand in his way, and that he enjoyed the rush, but it still doesn't make much sense. The article also talks of his intelligence, so I'm sure that he'd understand he's ruining all chances of living a decent life, and killing some woman isn't worth it.
This article blames it on violent video games and an irrational hatred of the teacher, but as we know, psychopaths don't tend to be delusional, especially from video games, and I doubt a psychopath would put his hatred of a person before their own well being.
Can any of the more psychopathic/sociopathic members of this forum explain to me why he would do such a thing? Or give me some kind of idea whether or not anything could drive you to do something similar?
I can totally see how somebody would want to kill their teacher, just to stop from being bored and having to sit their exams. Being in prison possibly felt as though it were in his best interests. He said afterwards he "couldn't give a shit" about the family, which certainly suggests some sort of lack of empathy - although he might just be a fame hungry narcissist with some violent tendencies trying to make up some shit to add to his notoriety and make a good story for the press. He does have rather a sweet face for a sociopath, if you ask me.
I've never done a murder - although mostly because I've never been sure of getting away with it. Plus, you'd have to clear up. I hate clearing up - and besides, bodies are really heavy to move. Too much fucking effort.
This statement...
Paul Greaney QC, prosecuting, said the boy had told a friend on Facebook of his plan to kill Mrs Maguire four months earlier, on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day last year, saying she "deserves more than death, more than pain and more than anything that we can understand"
...indicates to me that she did something that really pissed him off and he wanted revenge.
He obviously didn't care about getting caught, as long as he got to do what he wanted to do, and that was kill the teacher.
I don't believe his hatred was irrational. He knew exactly what he was doing. He just didn't care if he got caught or not.
Psychopaths are not all very smart. Perhaps he felt this would be a fun thing to do.
Also I don't see how you jump to the conclusion that he is a psychopath based on the fact that he sat down and seemed to be chill with the fact that he killed someone.
Also I think as with anything there are different degrees and different types of everything, including psychopathic tendencies.
