Yet I lack so many answers...

Maybe he does. For his own good. He needs to go with the flow and still be awesome. But still, he still usually say interesting stuff. He has many corners of his mind (where you are a neat little box..).

Why go with the flow if the flow could be further analyzed and better understood?

Just going with it makes for mistakes, as is proven again and again whenever "just go with it" ends up being the answer of the time.

I agree with all of that in regard to Turncoat, but I don't necessarily agree that I'm a neat little box.

You only see what I let you see. Everything else is kept hidden.

I think you took that too literally. Even when one is not hyper conscious it is still oneself. One's own direction. It is just about directing some thoughts back to the subconscious which is actually pretty good at straightening things out.
