I was going to suggest concrete :)

Crazyglue in the locks.

Hide eggs or meat somewhere that receives a lot of heat (behind/under large appliances) or in an air vent. If you're not squeamish, feeder mice are rather cheap.

Sugar in the carpets or corners will draw bugs.
