How long would a teenager(under 18) go to prison for if she/he  murdered another? 

could you get off on insanity and if so how long would you be locked up for ?

Depends on the nature of the crime, (horrific, planned, etc)

mental state and the age of the suspect, several things really

If you have the competency to ask such questions you would probably be tried as an adult

One of my old friends tried to kill this kid, he shot up an entire Chinese restaurant doing it. He killed no one, he was 17 at the time and they tried him as an adult. He's doing a minimum of 15 years
