I once had access to a Subway that was part of a 24 hour gas station. 3am Meatball Sub is a gratifying experience.
I miss this one 24 hour Diner I used to go to. It had the white polished tile walls with a black and white checkered floor with booths to sit and order from. It was nothing special, which is what made it special, and it was a great place to go when tired from clubbing or bored of just hanging around outside at night. Night staff, if not the fatigued type, seem less afraid of cracking jokes and being human beings, which was nice.

Depends on the food and occasionally the atmosphere. When not with company, more than likely if I were to be cooking something I'd be eating it at home or maybe packing it to eat elsewhere. A change in scenery can sometimes be nice for clearing my head or helping me focus, and having someone make the food for me means I can have the leisure of sitting back and enjoying it.
Then there's those times where food cravings are oddly specific, like how I used to be with Panera's Soup in a Bread Bowl. Making it on my own doesn't really recreate their specific taste.
