"How come?"
It never came up as something I could do when I was growing up, and now that I'm making my own money I'm more concerned about building a safety net than seeing the world. Even if I did want to, I still am uncomfortable going places where I don't speak the native tongue, which limits my selection.

"Is it something you intend to do?"
I'm not really for or against the idea, it'd have to come from the context itself. Every person I've been with has preferred keeping it as one on one time, which has been fine.

"Do you mean that you tried to kill yourself"
It's come up at a few points in my life, times where it just seemed like the easier answer since, during such times, life is strife while death is peace. The need to survive is a bitch to fight when it gets to certain stages, and it doesn't help when that inner nagging voice calls me weak for giving into it from this notion that "powerful people have the strength to accomplish their goals" and crap like that, as if the need to survive is something that is worth overcoming like any other trial of the self.

More often than not it involved me trying to starve and dehydrate myself, since I'd figure if I changed my mind I'd have the time and the means, as opposed to trying to go for faster answers that I can't reverse, since apparently during such times it mattered that I went willingly instead of die regretting my decision. I've tried to end myself in other ways, such as by drinking too much, purposely harming myself (since pain doesn't really hurt anyway), stuff like that, but I've gotten closest to it through voluntary dehydration.

People usually didn't notice, even with the rapid weight loss at points, but a few would actually ask about it. During such times I was oddly open about what I was doing, calmly explaining it to the point that they'd usually not try to stop me (if not start to somewhat consider it themselves). They knew I took their words into account, but that I'd be too stubborn to listen to anyone but myself and that trying to stop me will just be wasted effort (I'd account for each way they could try to stop me beforehand), so they'd just hope I fail.

When asked why I go on, I really can't give a straight answer. When asked why I ought to stop, there's many answers. I mostly go on these days in hopes of finding more answers and otherwise keeping myself entertained until such a point is reached, since "I can't know every answer, so there might be something that makes more sense than this conclusion". Zinc helps.

"and that someone tried to kill you?"
It hasn't come up too many times, but it's happened from knowing enough unstable people. Most ended up situations where the damage could be avoided or dealt with before hitting such a point, but when drinking was involved at one point a former roommate ended up trying to strangle me to death over a misunderstanding, and another person prior to that aimed to deal with me when he thought I was why he lost all his friends approval (when in all actuality I was the last friend he lost).
