I see your still rocking your go-fasters and your glow strap boot.

Smh, pogs...

Don't let it all go to your head, being humble has it's rewards as you'll find out in the fleet. Even with all the stories and shitty moments the Corps has put you through, they(civies) will never understand that level of pain or sacrifice.

The Army is a joke, during a moto run our CO told us to chase the Army down while they were in PT and bark at them. Amazing. It's the chair-force that deserves the criticism.

"they(civies) will never understand that level of pain or sacrifice."

Not too shocking, not much teaches a person better than experience.

I just don't see the point, but then again I am quite selfish.

The point of going through that pain? I don't have all of that figured out yet other than the fact your pain threshold and tolerance is raised. I know my mental tolerance of pain is stronger than my body's physical capabilities. During our 20k hike with 80 pounds of gear I didn't stop because I was fatigued, but because my knees locked out and my legs couldn't bend anymore to walk. It was only then I realized I was tired.

Doing that type of work conditions your body as well. I remember at first hikes were excruciating but after a while your body acknowledges that your continually progressing regardless of the pain, eventually you just go numb and don't feel it anymore. Until your knees lock out lol

The pain factor is not a problem in my case, but the raw fitness and stamina would probably do me some good. I however could achieve that by exercising more than my current light routine and running laps while still able to remain a civilian, safe and cozy on my own terms. If I don't push myself hard enough and for some reason can't will myself to keep improving while still desiring to, with enough disposable income a personal trainer could be hired to force me through those limits, if not going through programs that would accomplish the same thing. Limbs giving out does suck, a lot, and I'm sure the conditioning made that less likely to occur through forced repetitions.

Being pressed to exert yourself does have value, but I don't see why I'd bother to join something military to get that. I don't even desire being turned into something chiseled, just working to remain flexible, healthy, and strong enough.

I'm sure there's more reasons to join than getting in shape.

The military training here is no longer a requirement. But you can enlist only for 2 weeks to get the basic training, which sounds great to me.
