Will it have big titted shy nerdy scientist girls?
I really love science. I study it whenever I can, but I often feel like it's difficult to have access to all the knowledge produced in modern scientific journals-- which seem to be tailored for postgraduate school academics mainly.
I imagine a system similar to Reddit. Scientists or wannabe-scientists from all places and backgrounds can submit their ideas and theories, and the users can then respond by disproving each other, or agreeing.
This would allow dumb young people like me to be able to submit ideas and learn why they are wrong ,and it would also enable really smart Einsteins that the world has yet to discover to present their ideas on a global, non-discriminating platform that will allow the idea to gain traction and popularity based on the merit of the idea as a whole-- as apposed to our current system which over-valuates credentials.
I think it's clear that the Human educational system isn't as good as it could be, and there are countless individuals in this world who have the interest and passion in science, but simply don't find it a realistic career field. Such a website could allow these people to explore their interests, discuss, and learn.
I think a system like I've described would have the potential to contribute greatly to Humanity if it were to gain large popularity. By uniting the entire world for discussion, and by allowing Human opinion to dictate which theories and discovers make it furthest, we allow Humanity to move forward not just in the halls of Universities, but everywhere there is a computer.
This isn't to say Humanity doesn't have jerks who could cause trouble to such a system. I imagine a solution is to reward people with vote power. We can develop a system which seeks out the individuals who contribute to this system either with ideas or disapprovals. The higher the contribution rating, the more influence a "Like" would have, and this would allow the individuals who demonstrate the most competence to be able to have a bit more say-- while at the same time reducing the effectiveness of trolls and non-contributors
We can create a system that allows all Humans with a passion in science to engage, contribute, and receive feedback. It will be one of the first systems to enable Human curiosity in our pursuit of knowledge and understanding, and in a way that is entirely inclusive non-discriminating against someone's background, education, or anything else. It all comes down to the merits of our ideas in this system.
I'd really our SoulCreative to be the one to build such a thing some day if it doesn't already exist. What do you guys think?
It would be different in that conversation and "disapprovals" would be completely separate. Users would submit their thesis, and then other users will respond with disproving the thesis on a scientific basis. These rebuttals will have like or dislike features, and also disapproval features themselves. It will allow a conversation that focuses on facts.
/r/science and most of Reddit is opinion based as apposed to focusing on facts, and the scientific process. This system would emphasize on those values.
Furthermore, if Humanity is to collaborate on a single global scientific peer review platform, it needs to be a platform influenced only by it's users. Users who make use of this community will enjoy the pursuit of science, and will be able to jump right in. If they are wrong, they will learn why, and they will also be able to read the latest and most popular views by the Human race at the time.
I don't want to rely on some 60 year old high-ego capitalist choosing what the media portrays as good or bad science. We need a global community that chooses it's own champions, and this community could do just that. /r/science couldn't live up to this idea I think. Such an idea needs it's own dedicated system.
We could have this system built in less than a year with costs under 30k USD.
Luna, there is a place on Reddit where people quite literally request access to papers they don't have access to, and those who have the money and the access, give them the papers. It's bizarre...
http://www.reddit.com/r/scholar
Took me a while to figure it out...
Just [Request] anything you want...
I don't know, look at Reddit. Most trolls there get downvoted to oblivion-- unless they are awesome. I can't imagine it would be much different with my system.
30k USD... for 1 year's work. So that's 52 weeks work at 576 per week. It's my brother, I, and 1 designer, so divide that by 3, and we basically have enough money to survive lol. None of this is Profit.
I haven't really considered a monetization scheme for it. I haven't even considered ownership. I think the coolest way it could happen would be if we could get some sort of kickstarter funding. It depends on if anyone is really interested. I think it's a great idea, but then again I think all my ideas are great, so I just throw it to the wind and see if the cat licks it up.

Reddit found a way to attract all kinds to their website while also giving them an elsewhere to go within itself if they didn't belong where they happened to stumble.
When the website is focused on just one thing, you'll need to think of how to bait people there and how to sort them out properly. Reddit's success is variety, yours would have to be something different.

Cool, just thought I'd ask.
I don't know... The first time I heard about them was on a reddit board where University students were complaining about being spammed by them.
University students in general have special access to resources that other people don't, including those who have money to pay for it...
Meaning, last time I checked, some places you need a specific invite, or you need to belong specifically to a University group.
