Before you ask people if you are a sociopath/psychopath....

Here are some tips you might want to first try out. What makes a person a sociopath? Ask yourself that. Before you do that, ask yourself what you are like, as compared to how you think you should be. Then ask others how they'd act in situations, and if possible observe them in those situations. Coming onto the internet to ask these things is just silly. Honestly, asking anyone that is kind of retarded.

Now, if you seem to be a psychopath or sociopath after that, then you have your answer. If its good enough for you, then who can really tell you otherwise other than a psychiatrist? Do you want help? Do you want to change? If not, then what's the point of getting a diagnosis in the first place? Do you want to be put on a terrorist watchlist just because you happen to have a mental health diagnosis other people don't like? One of the few medical conditions people can discriminate against you for, and nobody will hear nor care about your concerns? Its not a fun diagnosis to get.

This advice seems pretty sound.

It's a thread I think deserves to be pinned and kept alive for the newbies to see. On every ASPD section there seems to be an epidemic of factitious disorder of ASPD. Kids that really want to be a sociopath but aren't.

It's healthy to question things, and making mistakes gives room to learn. In some cases them asking dumb questions inspires others to open up, which can help both the new (or "new") user as well as the older ones.

The hardest person to understand is oftentimes yourself, and an outside doubtful perspective can help make the mirror less warped.

I'm new here, and newish to being aware of my sociopathy. The fact that you're having quite a few people in my general age-group idealizing psychopathy kind of makes me paranoid that I may be deluding myself, but I'm still pretty confident that I could be categorized as a psychopath. I lack morals, a conscience, always have been different, and have been manipulating people for my entire life. This thread should exist because I feel that a grain of salt should be taken for each person deliberating about their own mental state, but I hope that the influx of confused kiddos here doesn't fuck things up for kiddos certain about their mental state like myself >.<

Yeah, but without a problematic lifestyle at present, of what use is a psychiatric diagnosis of ASPD/Sociopathy? If only the traits associated with said diagnosis mattered, and not the unhealthy ways of thinking and lifestyle, and the refusal to make it healthy, half the human species would be diagnosed ASPD. Most of the traits on their own are actually quite normal to have.
