Why psychopaths are more successful

Kevin Dutton released a new book with another guy. Article about it at:

Why psychopaths are more successful

Best line from it: "It's not that we're bad, it's just that we've got too much of a good thing."

And if Thrilly ever comes back she can take a test at thegoodpsychopath.com

Nice article. It is interesting that psychopaths are so demonized, but these are the same traits people are attracted to in high-power careers and in relationships. I mean, yeah, as the article puts it, a "dysfunctional psychopath" that goes on a killing spree is not good for society or for himself. I wonder if we're starting to see a greater shift towards recognizing psychopathy and other AsPDs on a spectrum?

The institutional psychopath is more successful. That is called sociopathy.

The person at the top of the food chain is no psychopath, nor a sociopath. They are above their primal instincts and are masters of understanding others.

The person at the bottom of the food chain withdrawn from society is a psychopath. Circumstances push them towards criminal behavior.

There is no other more succinct or complete definition of the phenomenon that rings so true.

Lol we get it omega you think you know the secrets of the world and what makes society tick.  You can understand others and be a master of understanding others and still be a sociopath. besides you cannot possibly know if the persons on top are normal or not

How on earth would you qualify any of these statements without conflating psychopathy with some other constellation of personality traits?

...Apart from your internet-based research, you don't do a lot of reading, do you MrComedicPhi?

That sounds more like borderline thinking to me. Most sociopaths do not believe that they have psychic powers - it's their victims who label them as being "psychic" due to their seemingly innate ability to "read" people. Which MrComedicPhi can't. Boderlines, on the other hand, frequently insist that they can "sense" the thoughts of the people around them.

On that note, MasterComedicPhi, would you care to offer a psychological breakdown of this forum's most frequent posters? Given that you know everything about psychopathy, this should be a relatively easy task for you because you can defer their exhibited personality traits to some other deficit (given, of course, that your interests are not restricted to psychopathy).

I flicked through this today. It's like a self-help book aimed at the usual idiots that buy that kind of thing and probably doesn't have any extra information than in his last book. Nevertheless, might be quite an amusing read. Only because I think Kevin Dutton is quite cute in a mad scientist kind of way.
