Dreaming

Lately I have been having a bout of insomnia, hard to fall asleep and stay asleep for long but that being said I have also been plagued with strange vibrant dreams that have left me waking emotionally disturbed. No theme in particular to these dreams, just random nonsense but dark leftover feelings that stay with me through the day.

Can anyone relate to this? Have any of you struggled with disturbing dreams?

Interesting theory. I quit smoking this past year.

Look up information about controlling your own dreams.  It takes practice but pays off very well when you succeed.

Interesting idea about nicotine and dreams. I recently quite smoking and started vaping. I consume nicotine but none of the other three-thousand odd chemicals. I have not experienced enhanced dreams - maybe this supports the nicotine hypothesis?

I have experienced sudden enhancement of dreams when I stop smoking cannabis. I'm more inclined to believe that I don't dream so intensely when I'm stoned because I'm too relaxed and too deep in the sleep to notice them.

I'll read up on that. In truth, I always thought I was pretty good at controlling my dreams. Whenever I've had falling dreams I been able to stop or maneuver out of the inevitable fall. Not the other night though -- grabbed a tree trunk at the top of a dangerous cliff I was trying to get up and the tree pulled right out of the ground. I was in the middle of a bad descent when I woke with a start. lol Had a shit day.

THis is pretty interesting. Never considered the positive aspect of nicotine, or smoking in general other than it feels great. Maybe there's something to it as a treatment for people. Makes sense since so many have smoked for centuries.

No, I can't relate.

I don't dream all the time (I only dream about 2 or 3 three times a week or, at least, it seems that way anyway), but when I do dream, most of them are fairly ordinary and not very disturbing at all. I have had a couple of weird dreams that were out of the ordinary, but most everything I dream about can usually be done in real life.

The most disturbing dream I ever had was of my mother who was a serial killer. I knew I was next on her list.

In the dream I was living back at home again and we were having a house party. My mother asked me to go down to the cellar and get another bottle of wine for our guests. I suspected she was going to trap me down there, but I went down there anyway in the hope that I was wrong. When I went in to the cellar the door locked behind me and I knew then that my mother was planning to kill me. I woke up from the dream before she could.
