What do you take Pride in?

what makes you think animals do not understand the concept of time :? They surely do not understand it in the big picture, if thats what you mean.

the difference between humans and animals is our ability to get over our initial instincts.

---

the reason people are apathetic today is that capitalism requires many unambitious apathetic people to feed the machine. people should be motivated instead to want to feed the 'machine'. and the machine should be something useful. not a greedy demand for power, just to get more power. Its like WoW, you fight bosses to get items to fight bosses. Its a greed to get new items, so you can get more items.

Pride, to me, seems like more of an idea that doesn't have any actual proof, so it seems narcissistic and unnecessary. There is a difference in pride and confidence, and if I had to choose one word I would feel more complete with the latter. I have confidence in my artistic abilities through winning contests, being critiqued, learning to improve, and knowing nothing is absolute, and I am humble enough to recognize that having confidence in a skill of mine does not mean I must demean and belittle others, nor does it mean I am the best.

To Looni: How are you so prideful in a subject that carries no merit in proof other than your own distorted mind? The "ability to see this reality from a much more passionate, realistic, and progressive perspective than the typical human individual" is based on what other than your thinking? The words you use carry the strength of fact, but I don't believe they are. Perhaps you can help me to understand your POV by defining the way you use those words. What is "This"? Define "passion" "realistic", "progression", and "typical". Relate the, for lack of a better word, lunacy to conscious, physical, reality. Place your feet on the ground.

To Stalker: Do you personally have an issue with living blissfully ignorant, and if you do why? What about the decision of another human being, which has absolutely nothing to do with you, gives you the desire to cast judgment and look down on them? I may be incorrect, but your tone came off as someone who likes to segregate themselves into a special little club, you even lumped Looni into it with you. What is going on in your life to need to create this pompous attitude? Do you feel, in a way, there is something inside of you that you need to prove to yourself, and even in that challenge, inner peace isn't good enough, so you project this perceived excellence onto others? I know that was hella loaded, lol, work with me. I just want to understand your thinking as well.

Giggle let me try to help clear things up…

The "ability to see this reality from a much more passionate, realistic, and progressive perspective than the typical human individual”

“This reality” is different from the real reality cause it’s a stoned version.

“Realistic reality” is kinda redundant and doesn’t make sense unless you just smoked a gagger. giggles

The more “passionate and progressive* perspective is due to being higher than a kite.

This differs from the “typical individual” cause most people don't need to get baked to function. :D

The reason I categorize people and seperate myself from them is simply a reminder that I am held to a much higher standard than them. It doesn't necessarily mean I'm better than them, just that I have the knowledge and the abilities capable of avoiding most problems in life. It's only right that I utilize these abilities to rise in this capitalist system and become successful.

I've been spending some time on a certain concept to explain my behavior and I simply call it Narcissistic Ambition. Believing you are special and higher than your competition can be counter productive if put with the wrong mindset, but it only seems to compliment mine. During times of direct competition, such as the seemingly impossible tasks ordered in the Marine Corps, this confidence was usually the edge that rose me above my piers. I wasn't physically the strongest and out of 532 people, probably not the smartest. But, when you walk into a challenge and you truly believe you will succeed,  most of the time you hit your mark.

Like the preacher I befriended,  he truly believed God, an unstoppable force guided him to victory. He was fearless and during our combat scenarios he often would take key positions in battle. I'm not saying my way of thinking is wrong, I understand it is. The idea is to trick yourself into your assured victory or financial success,  because you'll strive to receive what's rightfully yours, especially when you think you have the skill set to do so. Does that help?

You can learn to control your emotions and get over your fragile ego. Animals can't.

Some pets at least try to control their behavior if they've been given an environment that demands they bother, but it depends on how intelligent the breed of animal is for how likely that is and how the display appears.

One of my pets when I was younger was a nervous wreck, but thought he was so "alpha". It was adorable to watch him try to hold back his nerves to be all "tuff", yet witness his meltdowns when the other dogs were elsewhere.

Humans can be with fragile or non-fragile egos. They are not set in stone. So you could say they have more freedom. Perhaps it makes them primitive, unless they can indeed take control over themselves, then they are less primitive. Because they have the capability.

No wonder you think the way you do, you're a jarhead! This makes SO much more sense!

So you are basically deluding yourself into believing you rock so that you have enough courage to actually rock? Am I getting this? That sounds like a lot of unnecessary mind fuckery. Why not just….have confidence? I think the only reason it compliments your mind is because you lacked original thought before you took on this code of life. Have you always had this "code", or did this become all of what you are about after serving? You sound a little brainwashed.

My step pops is ex military, and he was a tad narcissistic before entering, but after serving his time became a machine. Attempt to program him in a different way and he stops functioning at life. What you wrote reminds me of "that guy".

edit: totally chuckled when writing "that Guy".
