Schools testing for sociopaths

According to this article Colorado school districts are collecting detailed psychological data on their students. Some schools in the US have teachers entering data on the BASC-2 form and have students take the Pearson Clinical Tests. BASC stands for Behavioral and Emotional Screening System. Rhode Island collects newborn's DNA "for the purpose of tracking the child's school progress". Uh-huh.

Do you think schools will be able to spot sociopaths? If they spot one, what do you think they'll do?

I think it'd be hard to actually pick out sociopaths in the schools considering teens feel less empathy anyway and they need to be a bit older in order to fully assess everything that's need. However, I do think this 'data' they're collecting could help spot behavior problems easier for those in schools, which could let the educational system handle these individuals in a way they see fit.

I can see how this would irritate the parents, especially since the parents themselves are being denied the gathered information.

Reminds me of the x files. Teachers are way under qualified to make such observations.

How remarkably invasive. The misdiagnoses ought to make for some fun childhood drama, drama they can carry with them for the rest of their lives.

Could make for some good stories.

Don't they have to be 18+ to qualify? More likely that they'd pick out something like ODD.

That would be stupid to do with young children. Young children so not yet understand all of those elements. Piaget is rolling in his grave. They are going to misdiagnose a shit load of people and ruin their lives. It's not like you can actually do anything with these studenTs you can't out them in a different class. It won't work

I agree this is bullshit. Then they could screen to weed out kids with mental illnesses, or physical illnesses or ADD.

Next thing you know, the schools will be empty.

only the parents can do such observations. And they can only do them if they have knowledge in that area.
