i've not studied any psych, maybe read some here and there

i never said aspd should try to change, i was talking about people with issues. if you are a person with aspd and no issues, thats fine. should be noted that these issues need to be yours, not other people having an issue with you.

people are responsible about their actions only to themselves. you are responsible to predict will other people fail or not and are you prepared for their failure, if their failure has an influence on you. if you happen to care about other people, then you can say you have a responsibility to them, but it is in fact still just a responsibility to you, because its about the fact that you care about these people, its not really about them

having some problem thats limiting your abilities in any direction, is something you should remove from yourself. ive seen people who have a problem, they dont like it, but instead of trying to change it, they get delusional and want to take pride in their problem, because it identifies them or some shit like that. thats just stupid.

but i can only offer you my opinion, you can choose to change or not to. i do not like it however, when i have to fix other peoples mistakes because they cant handle themselves. then they will change or i will be unpleasant to them to make my frustration at ease

It's mostly what I wanted to know about. Your name, Metaerg, I assume is a reference to Cattell's research. Possibly you picked it because it suggests superseding the baser instincts through learned behavior? 

So if I understand you correctly, you believe that people are responsible for their actions, and theirs alone, but if they should choose to help another it is ultimately for selfish reasons (care, emotional involvement, etc)? And that people should strive to fix their issues only if it causes them problems in their own life? I totally agree with your second point: sometimes a person has a problem and they recognize that they're self-destructing, but they've latched on to the problem as their identity. That was my point about reductionism in my other post: some people tend to become their disorders, devoid of aspects to themselves that aren't aligned with the problem/disorder. That is indeed limiting.

It sounds to me like there was someone who let you down early in life, and you've been very independent since then, and you're unwilling to tolerate the same behavior in others because you're tired of picking up the slack. Maybe you're looking for better ways to manipulate people into changing their behavior where it affects you. It's your general background I'm trying to figure out: what's shaped your beliefs? Why did you come to an AsPD forum in the first place?

I always liked you, Demon, but you're spending too much time with some of the trolls here. The nonsense is starting to rub off on you. There are plenty of idiots on this forum, no need to try and make another out of thin air.

I assume, until you correct me, that you are using the middle English version of the word, insinuating that Metaerg is 'of low intelligence'. I can refute that, without fear of contradiction.

Why not ignore the ones with 'idiotitis' and spend your time talking with people who have some sense? You could, conversely, play with them in such a manner as to make them look even more foolish than they already do. There is a modicum of satisfaction in that.

I'm drifting here...I realize that there are many trolls here and you feel the need to defend yourself from them, but it's much more effective to just ignore them than it is to try and engage them in any type of serious conversation. That's exactly what they want.

Rule number one when dealing with trolls:

NEVER get defensive.
