There is no way that sociopaths "are" or "are not"...the term is only a diagnostic label.

You sound like a people's person. 

I'm not particularly sociopathic (if at all), and i cannot be arsed much with introspection - not even with my own, let alone with other people's. Self or others - still 'people', meh. I'm much more intrigued & and amazed by the external material world than by the human condition.

The shrink keeps saying that because I lack automatic empathy that it is rare for someone like me to be self reflective?  How can I hope to understand other people if I cannot even understand myself?  I thought all high functioning sociopaths were introspective

I would agree. Figuring yourself out is part of figuring out other people. Successfully navigating interactions with others is based on modelling it out and the first model is always based on oneself. Understanding how you differ allows you to make a better model and thus be better at dealing with people

I'd also kind of agree with this. Normal people have weird irrational needs that are a pain to deal with. Kind of makes it not worth it.

What a dolt. You would have to have the consciousness of an amoeba to never be introspective.
