Lack of interest is exactly what it is for me I have found. If I dont have enough interest in you to really get my attention I dont give a fuck.
Personally I've never had a problem remembering names, seems simple enough to me. Luna is a coke baby who fries her already defective little brain by smoking copious amounts of weed every day. The rest of you lot have no excuse. Except for you Whoameye on account of your profound retardation. Give yourself a pat on the back just for trying.
Hey Luna,
Remembering names takes effort. People tend to forget names, I know I do. Whenever I'm introduced to someone I repeat the name either out loud or in my mind. Then I'll make an effort to call them by their names. It tends to help. Also, people are usually -- at least on some level -- impressed you can remember their names. Trust me, it's not only your problem or my problem. I don't know how many times I've been asked to repeat someone's name privately because a friend forgot it.
Err, hope that helps. All hail Luna?
I've made it into something fun or otherwise acceptable instead of embarrassing when trying to remember a name. Some problems can be made charming with the right presentation, and showing the earnest effort of trying to remember can override how offensive it could be seen.
In general, I've just overtime become more adept at a conversation style that doesn't use names. Usually in time the answer will either come to me or be somehow referenced in conversation.
Question: Do the names become easier to remember when you smoke, or when you haven't smoked? It could have to do with how memory can form. It could be similar to how someone black-out drunk might forget "what happened last night", but the next time they drink the memory becomes as clear as day.
often when someone introduces their name to me, i dont remember it at all, not even for 1 minute. after we talk for a while, i may become interested in their name and i have no shame asking again.
i do this with lots of stuff, i just ignore information i deem irrelevant, its just how it is. everything is a pattern and i notice the abnormalities or the interesting stuff in the patterns(the stuff i dont see as irrelevant).
i dont think being crazy has a direct connection to this, a completely normal person can be the same.
I do not think that it could be an indication of Sociopathy or that it is very uncommon amongst people. Everyone quickly forgets insignificant things whether it would be someone's name or a license plate numbers of a random car.
It took me quite a long time to learn the names of my parents because I never saw a point to do that since I was calling them "mother" and "father" anyway... Same applies for my grandparents. However, despite it also took some time it was a lot easier to learn the names of my peers.
