Those are some damned good points.
I joined this forum to harass the shit out of Thrill Kill. I have no idea whether or not I'm a sociopath.
by circinusSorry, TK, while your posts are usually interesting, they either point to other neurological anomalies, or you've adopted a very well-crafted persona for the forums.
Well, apparently the psychologist who diagnosed me believes I'm genuine, so it's safe to say we can rule out the well-crafted persona bullshit. As for other neurological anomalies, that's a possibility for anyone who claims to be disordered.
I'm not a sociopath. At least not as far as I know. I'm just a big kid who likes to be mean sometimes, so I don't always get along with the other kids. So I come here.
Honestly, is ME Thomas even a sociopath? She seems kinda normal. Maybe a little selfobsessed, but still in a normal sort of way.
Psychologists are still prone to human error and an impression built from the words you choose to share.
I've technically been misdiagnosed twice, once as Depression and another time as ADD. They weren't getting the whole picture because I didn't have enough knowledge about myself at the time, and they only really had my words and experiences to work with.
Oh very good, Turncoat. That's really the only interesting thing you could do with a question like that. I've been going through and trying to figure out who is and isn't a sociopath here myself. So far there are a handful of contenders, but I haven't done enough digging yet. Although, I have ruled out TK.

I'm a beautiful and a wise angel.
Watch me try to remove God from his pedestal (and most likely fall from grace at the same time).
Heheh.
I offer a one finger salute to reality.
Perhaps one day I will take myself and all those around me seriously.
Perhaps I already have.
Perhaps I'm everything and nothing.
Perhaps...
I'll go back to smelling all those beautiful flowers I have planted on the graves of people I consider worthy of being a fertilizer for my flowers now.

by HelenaMost people with AsPD aren't diagnosed, because, well, they're too damned manipulative to allow some psychologist slap a label on them that'll render them effectively untrustworthy by society..
Yet, amazingly enough numerous people have been diagnosed with it. Go figure.
I hardly knew anything at all about personality disorders before I was diagnosed, let alone AsPD.
I had no idea that I would even be diagnosed with it.
Sure they are. In rehab facilities, in psychiatric wards, and in prisons. The prevalence of sociopathy in the general community is most likely heavily underestimated due to this fact. Sheesh, read your Robert D. Hare, woudja?
People in rehab units and psychiatric wards are likely to have sought help for a comorbid psychiatric problem rather than for AsPD. If you barely knew anything about personality disorders prior to your supposed diagnosis, what led you into therapy?
