How could he even be certain she'd be at his sister's funeral? Sounds like a questionable means of gaining another opportunity to talk to her again. Just because she had some sort of connection with his mother does not mean she has any with his sister. Without her name he can't even sort out who she does and doesn't know, save for anything he learned during the funeral itself.

He sounds like a rather sloppy killer to me.

Hoping the same girl would come the funeral. This is old but is typically told where it's your own mothers funeral and you don't get the persons name so the sociopathic route is to kill your father. 

Edit: This was also in an episode of 30 Rock years ago btw and no, I'm not a sociopath. I just remember strange things. 

That's exactly what I thought, if it was me I'd just ask the other people at the funeral if they knew her and could give me her name and of course if that didn't work then sure go with the other option. He obviously didn't think this through very well.

Because he'd hoped to meet his dream girl at his sisters funeral, since she attended the first one. I think I'd read about this before somewhere...
