"Schizophrenia: Apparently all who have this will shoot up a school. All schizos are portrayed as violent or homeless "
Ever see Sybil? My abnormal psych class used it as a key example for how media harms the perception of disorders.
It's the perfect example.
"A rare shark attack is misconstrued as a growing ongoing threat, and all of a sudden people are afraid to go to the ocean"
Reminds me of how a lot of people fear flying more than driving, yet it's driving that carries more risk and a higher death toll.
"Death itself isn't even that scary unless I get all worried about religion and think there's a 50/50 chance Hell exists."
Is it really 50/50?
As for the rest of the post I'm on the same page. Drowning and other slow deaths sound horrible.
That is why the probability of surviving the ordeal is more important than the dying part. I, personally, rather travel in something I know has a higher chance of letting me walk out than flailing in the air for 1 minute and something, barrel-rolling down in a fireball at 10,000 ft from the ground.
