I know this has been talked about before.  However, with the new influx of people coming here, I want to create a new thread for it.  This is mostly directed at self-identified sociopaths (psychopaths).  If you don't self-identify as a sociopath, please state that.

What religion(s) do you most identify with, if any?  Are you devout in your beliefs?

Why do you identify with that religion(s)?

What religion(s) bothers you the most, if any?

I believe I may be a sociopath, or at least have tendencies.  I identify most with Eastern philosophies and don't believe in any religion.  I guess you could call me an agnostic.  I think there is some sort of expansive consciousness or shared consciousness that guides the progression of reality.  I don't think it has a name, or is strictly for humanity, or has any anthropomorphic properties.  I think that's why I identify most with some Eastern philosophies.

I grew up as a Catholic and rebelled against it my entire childhood.  It always felt pointless to me.  It angered my parents that I did not care about it.  They told me I was a sinner and might go to Hell.  That was a common theme in my family.  There was the constant threat of Hell.  My manipulation targets are usually Christians or Atheists. Christians are particularly easy to manipulate, seemingly because of their beliefs. Atheists I have met seem to get lost in trying to be special or unique and thus become easy prey.  They are prone to accepting what I say more readily.  That's not to say that Christians are not like that too. I don't often get to interact with many religions where I'm located. I don't know if I hate Christianity.  I just find it annoying.

Our ancestors were continuously looking for answers for things they didn't understand. So they created something that would explain the things they didn't understand.
(Gods). Mankind needs something to believe in. For without it, what is mankinds purpose on earth. Religion is the glue that has bonded mankind together and allowed us to evolve to what we are today. If we didn't have it or something to believe in we would have destroyed our selfs long ago. I don't beleive in religion. But I understand why we need it.

Yeah,that's what science is for.

To answer the topic I'm atheist I think religions are just another way to enslave & control people (and to start war). And oh I self-identify as a sociopath. That said I find them entertaining especially muslims nowadays with all the hand-cutting, stoning, beheading activities taking place. I'm not discriminating against them christians used to be as bad if not even worse than them.

I'm a Catholic. Depends on how you would interpret 'devout', but I don't do things by half measures.

Why do you identify with that religion(s)?

Because it has never stopped being in my benefit to do so. I've met some interesting people, made some useful contacts, even got my first job through it. The whole 'god' thing is all a load of bollocks in my opinion, but a lot, even the majority of other 'believers' think the same. It's a social institution like any other. I don't believe in a lot of social institutions, but what's the point in fighting against it? My grandad would go to Mass every Sunday and was even one of the people protesting when Life of Brian was released, yet he still thought the whole thing was a load of codswallop. I don't know what it's like in other religions, but if you want to meet a bunch of hypocrites just head to your nearest Catholic church.

Really they're all equally stupid, but something about Evangelical Christians does scare the bejesus out of me.

1. I identify with no religion. I subscribe to many philosophies (some even conflicting) But I do not believe in any sort of Deity, religious purpose, or popular concepts of after-life. To cut it short, I'm a humanistic agnostic-athiest.

2. I do not see any reason in believing in something that makes no logical sense to me. As whoameye said. these beliefs are simply a way for people to justify the things they do not believe. A psuedo-science put in place by those who used it wield power over the ignorant masses.

3. I believe all religions should be abolished. They are the source of so many conflicts in this world. Everyone's pissed off because everyone believes in different imaginary friends. People need to find something new to believe in... Maybe they should try science...
