Psycho =/= dick

Posts: 87

It's fascinating that most faux-psychos on here think the disposition is synonymous with dick. Both metaphorically and literally. It's like posting a giant flashing sign that says "I'm an idiot who's got no social life, with the sense of humor of a twelve-year-old ."

That is all.

Psychopath is almost a dissociated state from the self. Out of touch with ones direction. Animalistic, knee jerk reactions to environmental stimulus.

Throw in psychosis, and you've got a real problem. That's when there is a true dissociation and external factors come from within. One step closer to schizophrenia.

Throw in a social ladder climbing scheme and a psychopath that was previousl,y withdrawn from society becomes a sociopath. It is that simple. A sociopath is nothing more than a psychopath that participates in society with varying degrees of success.

The general population at large are indeed sociopaths. Those who are mentally disabled, are closer to psychopathy.

Relating criminal activity to psychopathy is erroneous. Criminal activity may be the true sign that someone is not a psychopath or a sociopath unless they commit crimes for reasons that are unknown to them. They get a feeling, or an urge to do so. It has nothing to do with freedoms or rights of oppressed individuals.

That is all... so dick behavior is expected. The general population are psychopaths.

That's a nice theory, but inaccurate. Psychopathy and sociopathy are synonymous; psychopathy is the currently accepted term in clinical settings. What you are describing is the difference between a high-functioning and low-functioning sociopath. But, my point is that the absence of empathy, guilt, remorse, fear, etc do not carry with it the imperative to act like a dick for no reason. It simply means one can more easily choose rational behavior and decision-making while remaining unfettered by emotions. Ruthlessness and narcissism are more commonly at the base of irrational decisions.

Also, the general population are not psychos. More like an upper limit of around 5%. It may be difficult to diagnose psychopathy/sociopathy, but it's not that hard to rule it out.

from a historical perspective they are not always synonymous, and from a clinical perspective there is no official recognized way to diagnoses a psychopath.

You don't even know how you are a psychopath... that's is pretty fukin sad...

Nah. Professional dicks are a class apart from stupid ones -- all subtlety. I think you fall in the former category, Metaerg. ;)

Right. That's why I said it's difficult to diagnose. But it's much, much easier to rule it out in a person. Hence, a general upper limit on the population.

If that last statement was supposed to be insulting, you might need to try harder. Form a coherent thought. But I'm sorry you feel sad for me...that grief must be a difficult burden.
