From what I've read, researchers think it's a mix of the environment a child grows up in, and their genes. What are your opinions on the possible causes for sociopathy?
While I'm sure there could be some genetic factors involved, I believe it's primarily due to the environment of the individual. I think most sociopathic traits are learned and reinforced through their ability to get an individual the things they want to succeed in life. The fact of the matter is, sociopathic behavior is rewarded, as can see by googling: "sociopath fortune 500 company"
Many of the very behaviors listed in Hares Psychopathy check list are what make up good leaders.
and if there is a genetic predisposition to psychopathy it would only make sense that it's been bread into our species as some of the character traits ensure reproduction: to include promiscuous behavior, risk taking, manipulation etc.. these things ensure that a sociopath passes on their genes.
I think psychopathy is simply the human animal at it's highest evolution.

This is the only part of your post I agree with.

This is absolute bullshit.
Explain to me how living a parasitic lifestyle, being selfish and self-centered, irresponsible, reckless, experiencing almost constant boredom, having poor impulse controls, poor behavioral controls, a failure to accept responsibility, grandiosity and criminal versatility are advantageous to humanity.
These are the traits that I and most other socio/psychopaths exhibit (I have most of the others as well, but I didn't include the ones that I consider positive traits for a leader). I know the impact they've had on my life and the lives of those around me, so I can tell you from experience that you're very naive if you think any of those traits I mentioned make for the highest level of evolution.

I'll let Forbes explain it.
As with anything there are high functioning and low functioning individuals, regardless of whether or not they are psychopathic. This over their behavior traits dictates whether or not they can be successful. You are a good example of a low functioning sociopath... I wouldn't expect you to understand how it could be beneficial for someone because you only see it from the low point. But for someone who can to some degree control their impulses and plan their future. Many of the traits offer value that can enhance ones success in life.
