Threats, jokes -- how to tell the difference?

I am casually seeing someone new and he came to my place for the first time this weekend. I showed him around, we chatted, hung out etc. and then he made a comment about how he was going to hide outside "that window some night" and watch me in the dark for hours "hahaha"

WTH? Joke or threat? It seemed like a joke but it struck me as a strange thing to say and esp. weird because my ex watched me once from the same window. Maybe I've spent too much time here. Anyhow, just heading out to buy blinds ;) and a charger for my taser, wondering what some of you think?

Well you can let it consume you, or you can brush it off and take it as a joke. Once you get to know him better you will be able to make a more logical assumption of his personality.

Clearly it was supposed to be a joke. A stalker would not risk losing such spot and therefore would not bring it up in the first place. How did you manage to get a taser without a charger?

It sounds like you can rule out the possibility of him being a stalker. You said you haven't known him long. Still, you can never go wrong with the spare taser.
