What are, in your opinion, the main causes of crime? Is society to blame, the individual or is it a mix of both?
The idea that people commit crimes because they are bored enrages me.
I came up in a bad area where I watched genuinely good people resort to crime to get by. One of my closest friends was forced to sell drugs to help pay bills because his mother was disabled. No one wants to be in that position. He was arrested but luckily we weren't adults at the time. There are people that steal and rob to survive and the fact that someone does the same thing because they are bored is sickening.
I pity those individuals who choose crime as a recreational activity.
The ghettos of Australia are nothing compared to those in America.
I've had things stolen from me, yes. It isn't the reason I'm angry though. My anger stems from the ignorance of those who commit crimes of their own free will, because if those individuals were put into a situation or scenario where they had to break the law just to put bread on the table it wouldn't be so fun anymore.
Most of your people who choose crime as a recreational activity do so because the haven't experienced any form of hardship or endeavor. They don't understand how poverty works. Ask someone who is actually in the struggle, they would kill for the chance of a average life.
