Ah, then you and me are the youngest.
by HelenaAnyone noticed that there are a lot of twenty-three-year-olds frequenting this forum? Not sure if that's relevant or not.
I have brought this up a few times. It has to do with this generation and there lack of people skills. I told my therapist about this forum a couple of weeks ago, and how 90% of the members in here are in there early 20's. I told him my theory on why I believe this is, and he agreed completely that because of the mobile devices and social media. Most of that generation is growing up lacking the greatest tool we have, and that is face to face communication.
Sure they know how to argue and talk shit online. But when they are confronted in real life, face to face with people. They get very uncomfortable. So they start searching online for a logical answer and low and behold they find this place, and think. Well fuck I must be a sociopath.
I don't believe this phenomenon has been studied yet. But mark my words, it will be.

How do you figure you already know how people here are in real life? Just because of their age and presence on this website?
"So they start searching online for a logical answer and low and behold they find this place, and think. Well fuck I must be a sociopath."
How many people here honestly think that they're a sociopath these days? I see that claim more often from puppets and new users than regulars.
"I don't believe this phenomenon has been studied yet. But mark my words, it will be."
It has been, but instead of "sociopath", it's related to things like how Facebook and Cell Phones may be harming interpersonal social skills, like what you said in your first paragraph. I'd argue it's one of those "finding a balance" sort of solutions, as too much of anything is likely to make other areas of your life suffer from not being practiced or dealt with.
That being said, just because studies exist that question this idea does not mean that everyone who uses the internet from the more tech-savvy generations reflect those weaknesses. It just makes them more likely.

Why do you ask me questions I can't answer for you ? If you lack the common sense to see the obvious differences between my generation and theirs. It is because you didn't grow up in my generation. Like I have said before. You can't be taught common sense or wisdom. These things come from age and life experiences.
I'm not insulting you by saying you lack common sense. It is just me saying you lack the age to acquire these things. If you choose to go out into the real world sometime, and learn these life experiences, and interact with the people around you. Over time you will acquire these things.
I didn't look up the info I wrote on my post. It is obvious to me because of my age and life experiences. I see a night and day difference between that generation and my own.
"Why do you ask me questions I can't answer for you ?"
...you can't answer why you think or believe things? You can't be that simple.
As for the rest of it, you're showing your sense of ageism. While with age comes wisdom, that does not mean that every 40+ year old person is wiser than every 20+ year old. People learn different things at different rates, leading different lives from one another. Using age as a way to pull rank is sort of silly.
"If you choose to go out into the real world sometime"
You keep implying I and other people don't go outside. Why is that?
Oh right, you can't answer why you think and believe the things you do. Forget I asked~
"It is obvious to me because of my age and life experiences. I see a night and day difference between that generation and my own. "
It's also obvious how little proof you need beyond your own experiences, as if that alone was somehow enough.

Don't get angry child. Give it time. Someday when you are older. You will look back at this forum and think. Damn I guess I wasn't as smart as I thought I was back then.
