Cons, Scams, Exploitation and Manipulation - What's Your Story?

Most of our society, and I say our assuming you are an American (egocentrism being a main component of our culture(I say our still assuming you are American(Ad infinitum)))..where was I? Oh right, bad at listening. We as a people are bad at listening. Everyone is too damn narcissistic and up their own ass to care about what anyone else says or thinks. Why am I even telling you this, this is the narcissistic forum after all. What a waste of time.

P.S. tell me a story, I promise to listen.

Cons, Scams, Exploitation and Manipulation - What's Your Story?

I used to be a programmer before I began working at the company I currently am employed in, which i shall not state. I had just started working there and planned my career path at the company. Another employee who i shall call Dave and I were the top in our current positions. I knew ahead of time that they were expanding the upper tier the following month and were going to move the two best employees in the lower section up as well. I began becoming friendly with Dave and gained his trust and friendship. As expected we both moved up in our fields and became "partners". Months later I heard news that the boss of our section was retiring and news spread amongst the four of us about who was going to replace him. I purposely expressed displeasure at any notion of the idea and usually stated that it was "The pay increase wasn't worth all the added hassle." A couple of days later Dave swung by my room and proposed a "Agreement". He told me how he wanted to get the promotion and needed help getting rid of the other competition. He "knew" I didn't want the position so he asked me for my help. I agreed and to help him, I designed a worm virus. It was created for the sole purpose of deleting small bits of data to corrupt the persons files. What i didn't tell him was that the virus was also instructed to send recently created word documents to his computer. I gave him the virus on a USB and told him i was gonna distract the others. I asked the others if they wanted to go on a smoke break and they agreed and we all went outside and relaxed. After around five minutes we returned and continued on our day. About a week later we all started experiencing corrupted files and the such and I stated that it must have been a virus. We got tech support to come to the building and check our computers and he found the virus. He also saw that all the files were being transferred to Dave's computer. I had saved all my files onto my laptop before infecting my computer with the virus. He was confronted with the evidence and they fired him after he could not come up with a decent excuse. Due to the other employee's data being destroyed i excelled above them and obtained the promotion. That is my story of deceit and manipulation. I know it most likely does not hold to other's stories but its mine and that's all that matters.

This wasn't so bad. A person agrees to let you do something shady for him and he takes the fall. It's kinda like justice...karma. But didn't the IT department keep backups of the employees' files? Didn't they themselves backup stuff to cloud based services? I never keep important stuff only on my computer. Just some minor points... Interesting story.

I find that cloud systems are just offering your data to the public. Hackers that is.

You are right. Really sensitive stuff shouldn't be stored (at least not unencrypted) on the internet.
